In the coming 2022-2023 school year, we are not planning to hold an AP Chinese Program, but will continue to arrange for mock tests to prepare students for the AP Chinese test at their high school.

Program Overview:
Classes are taught in Mandarin. Based on a 3 year rotational syllabus, this program follows the College Board AP Chinese course outline.
Our AP Chinese Program focuses on expanding the breadth of the students’ knowledge, and improving Mandarin listening, speaking, reading, writing and 2-way interactive communication skills. Around March each year, the teacher assesses the student’s AP exam readiness and make appropriate recommendation. The teacher also provides mock questions and discusses test techniques.
- Earn college credits and satisfy your college foreign language requirement with the help of our AP Chinese Program. Upon graduation from this program, students will be equipped to pass the AP Chinese exam and achieve college level proficiency
- Learn about Chinese society and culture in both traditional and contemporary perspectives
- Learn to communicate more effectively in daily life and traveling situations
Who might be interested in this program?
- Students who want to take the AP Chinese exam
- Students who want to advanced the knowledge of Chinese language and culture
- Students who have completed Level 7 Chinese (C7) or equivalent at West Valley Chinese School

- Classes are held every Friday from 7 - 9 p.m. at Homestead High School
- Program textbook: Chao Yue 超越
- Supplemental material may include additional workbook, mock questions, videos and other technology
- Roughly 2 hours of homework per week
- Minimum class size is 5

- Non WVCLS students: A placement test and a short oral interview with the teacher/school official will be conducted for Mandarin proficiency
- WVCLS students completed C7 or above: A short oral interview with the teacher/school official for Mandarin proficiency
